The prefect end of year and the best start of season

Our standards never change, this is how the season started and this year ends...
Happy , happy and more happy!

"Silvia is absolutely brilliant.
She is kind, helpful, energetic, engaging, competent, trustworthy and extremely fun with an excellent sense of humour. Most importantly she could not be more flexible for us. Nothing is too much trouble or a problem. The children love her and A and I think she is lovely. Very professional but incredibly personable too.Thank you so much."

She arrived early and went through all the requirements around the children with myself and my sister in law. She instantly bonded with the boys and then happily read them all a story upstairs and we settled them all into bed. Many thanks"

What do you do in St Anton with children?

Here are some family friendly activities in St Anton our nannies tried and tested:

1) Sledging - best places are the bottom of the Gampen or Nasserein lift. Pick up a sledge in resort for €20 or ask your hotel/Chalet if they have any available to borrow.

2) Play park - St Anton has two play parks: one in the grounds of the museum and one outside the wellness centre. Warm clothes and waterproof trousers are essential for this if you're planning on going on the swing or down the slide.

3) Indoor play - for those days where the weather is just a bit too cold and snowy to be outside head to Bar/Cafe Anton and their rather unusual play area which over looks the cafe. In Nasserein there's Arlmont, which also has a small area for kids to play in.

4) Visiting the rescue helicopter - a fun afternoon out taking the bus or walking to Verwall where the rescue helicopters are based. If you're really lucky, they'll let you sit inside!

If the list is not enough, we have some secrets to share , so please give us a call....00447860925055

CHAMONIX's Christmas glitter...

It finally looks like Christmas in Chamonix

While there may not be so much snow in Chamonix yet, we are very much getting into the Christmas spirit while the snow canons working too . Santa has arrived and so have the Christmas markets, so while parents can indulge in a variety of tasty mulled wines, the children can come and meet Santa and join in in many of the activities and attractions that the Chamonix Christmas village has to offer. We have already had a band of geese marching through the village to the sound of tambourines and whistles, and a quartet of colourful umbrellas marching through with some beautiful drumming and dancing accompanying them. Children have been joining in the dancing and loved the attractions so far.
Chamonix’s Christmas village is offering fun for families right up until the 30th December so there is still plenty of time to experience and be part of the fun here. From face painting to carol singing in the churches, come and see the Christmas Elves singing and dancing through the village and sharing their jokes with everyone. There’s still jazz quartets to come and an illuminated musical procession of the Chamonix ESF ski instructors, plus much more.

There’s certainly enough to keep everyone entertained until the snow arrives, which according to the forecast won’t be long.
Book a nanny for January until the end of December and we will give you a 10% discount for over 30 hours bookings.

Chamonix waiting for you....

Hi, I’m Rosie, one of the nannies based in Chamonix. I arrived here last week and so far the only ski area open is the Grand Montets, but the other lifts are all scheduled to open either tomorrow (the 10th) or on the 17th December. The luge (toboggan) and the ice rink are also due to open on the 17th, which will be great fun for visiting children (and adults!). La petite folie, the new cafĂ© and soft play area in Chamonix-Sud is open; the staff are lovely and the little ones love the soft play area. Link: http://www.lapetitefoliechamonix.com/wp_lapetitefolie/. There are lots of other fun activities for children in Chamonix including bowling, sleigh rides, sledging and adventuring in the forests. Also, a little elf told me that Father Christmas is going to be visiting several hotels and other locations around Chamonix during the week before Christmas!

Off to ski..what you need to consider if you are travelling with children

It can be a struggle keeping children entertained at the best of times let alone on a plane! There are the obvious gadgets, like I-pads but books are always great and easy to pack. How about a book that includes skiing, snow or the mountain environment. Get them ready and excited for where they are about to be. They could also draw a picture of what they think the ski resort will look like and even draw their nanny. This may help them when they eventually meet their special nanny for the week. Our nannies found that sticker books were extremely popular with all children too. These may be useful on the plane!
Once in the resort it is up to us to keep the children occupied while you enjoy the beautiful slopes. A lot of our nannies are looking forward to trying snow painting. It involves filling up bottles with water and food colouring and then spreading it all over the snow. They can create pretty pictures whilst also being outside in the great alpine atmosphere. There are so many lovely things to do in the mountains as well as the expected activities. If you are going to a resort where there is a swimming pool we advise parents to bring several swim nappies and arm bands, however some pools provide them.

Tips for skiing holidays with children:

·         Always have water & snacks to hand. Sunscreen for your child's skin type is a must.

·         Good fitting gloves, goggles & sunglasses. If you get the children to try these things on before they go away that can be extremely useful too.

·         Gloves that can be attached together or mittens. And WATERPROOF. There is nothing worse than cold hands.

·         Clothing layers, it goes from hot to cold and vice versa very quickly.

·         The one thing to pack extra would be nappies & baby wipes – they can be very expensive in resort. However we can go shopping for you before you arrive.

·         Transfers can be long & windy – medication for travel sick children.

·         Entertainment for the journeys!

New Arlberg cableway link

The Flexenbahn cableway link between Zurs and Stuben/Raus is due to open in winter 16.17 which will make skiing more convenient, extended and varied. This will make the Arlberg ski area the largest in Austria by offering more than 300km linked runs around Lech and St Anton.
Arlberg will move into the world's top 5 ski destinations in terms of claimed size overtaking the Espace Killy.
And what's more...St Anton Nannies will be expanding this season too! Check it out in October www.merinannies.com
