The most fabulous time of year events

13 December: Xmas concert in the Pettneu Parish Church

27 December: Xmas concert by the Wiltener Boys Choir - 8pm, in Arlberger Hall: category A tickets 20euro, category B tickets 17euro.

30 December: Ski show 'The Snow Must Go On' - 9pm, Karl Schranz Finishing Stadium, FREE (Show Lounge, 25euro - includes food and drinks): a combination of projected images, 3D effects and 150 actors demonstrate the historical developments in skiing.  The Show is then on every Wednesday from the 13 January.

January:

3 January: New Year's Concert - 5.30pm, World Cup hall @ ARLBERG-well.com: Classical start to the New Year with a performance by the Ambassade Vienna Orchestra: category 1 tickets 49euro, category 2 tickets 39euro.

9/10 January: Women's FIS Ski World Cup (Super G and Downhill):  The women's international ski elite will meet again in St Anton to battle it out for all important World Cup points in the Super G and Downhill disciplines.  The legendary race route down the 'Karl Schranz' piste will test the athletes to the limits.  Both races end at the World Cup Stadium, where the World Cup party will take place for all spectators.

9-30 January: Ladies First! Weeks. Ladies will be treated like princesses during these weeks.  Every lady can pick up a copy of the 'Ladies First' booklet and a small welcome gift at the Tourist Office.  The vouchers in the booklet get you the following benefits: free ladies drinks, discounts in shops and restaurants, and offers for spa treatments.  These weeks are also know as Powder Snow Weeks, as there is much talk about powder and untouched slopes - an ideal time for powder enthusiasts.

April:

8-10 April: New Orleans meets Snow, St Anton: The focus will be on soul, blues, funk and jazz.  There will be live concerts throughout the resort, adding a dash of southern flair to St Anton.  This festival line up includes members of the Austrian jazz elite, as well as a special surprise guest star from New Orleans.

16 April: The White Thrill Race.  This race attracts thousands of winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world every year.  In principle, any one can take part, but from experience it is not suitable for absolutely everyone.  The Race starts with over 500 participants and follows a 9km downhill run (including a gruelling 150m ascent somewhere in-between), which pushes even seasoned skiers to their limits.

St Anton Nanny poem

I'm getting all excited
I'm getting ready to go
I'm off to be a Nanny
and have lots of fun in the snow.

My bags are full of woolly jumpers
to keep me warm when is bitter
I'm packing lots of paints and pens
and not forgetting the glitter.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all
and having lots of fun
from sledging, crafts, and gondola rides
you will be ready for bed when done.

St Anton will be magical
full of Christmas trees and lights
from market stalls and Christmas trails
lots of festive sights

Are we sharing the same excitement?!

Winter job a passion or chore? Merinannies have the answer!

It’s that time of the year again, the days are getting shorter, the air is getting colder and you are thinking of your winter job/chore or fun.

Let’s face it, most of these Alpine jobs sound glorious but what happens when you are out there faced with reality? Your personal time is limited, your bed too small and you don’t get enough time on the mountain…what did you go for?!

If you have a passion for snowsports you need to think carefully before you choose your winter job. And if you love kids, want so spend time making snowmen, messing about in the snowy woods, having hot chocolates and lunches up on the mountain, surrounding yourself with glittering Christmas trees and other like minded people….then we have a job for you in resorts that we pick with care.

We have only two positions available now in Megeve or Samoens

You get paid by the hour and you choose when to work !

All you need is childcare qualification of level 3 or above, three references, a clear CRB and lots of love for children!

For more information our jobs page explains why nannies come back year after year

Good luck

You want to earn enough cash to enjoy yourself and save!

Then we have the answer…join our dynamic team in France or Austria for a truly special winter adventure.

A day in the life of a Merinanny...

FUN AT WORK   ....

I arrive at work on a very cold but beautiful sunny morning, today I have one child who is 3 and a half years old. After parents have gone off for the day the child and I have a play of her favourite game, chasing each other around on the floor pretending to be dogs! what an adventure.... and the sound making turns to lovely singing and more imaginative play...
After this we wrap up warm and off out on the sledge. As the chalet is right on the piste it's easy to pull her along on the sledge down to the village. We hop on the bus to Courchevel to do some sledging in the fun area they have there, as well as some building in the snow. Our favourites being dinosaurs and dogs!
After this I take her to soft play, she has a great time playing with others and we have a dance together in the disco room. Tired but not exhausted we head back down on the bubble and then  on to the sledge she goes and I pull her back to the chalet.
After lunch we do snow painting, which involves food colouring mixed with water in a squeezy bottle and then 'paint' the snow... It's a very popular activity!
By the time the parents return the little girl is very tired but happy and she excitedly shares her day with her mum and dad.
